Short Biography
I am an academic cardiologist with a special interest in heart failure and cardio-oncology. Since April 2019, I have been working at King’s College Hospital in Heart Failure and cardio-oncology.
During my PhD, I have developed academic skills in big data analysis, linking large nationwide registries (namely the National Heart Failure Audit - NHFA, HES, ONS, and CPRD). I have linked and analysed the data, exploring the quality of care of patients with heart failure over time using advanced statistical modelling, including multilevel survival models, interaction testing and non-linear survival models.
I have also established at KCL an international registry on inflammatory heart disease (the CAIR Registry) involving more than 1500 patients with confirmed myocarditis across 8 countries in 3 continents, and actively collaborate with the Epic platform to develop a streamlined pathway for clinical trials across Europe.
I have also successfully completed an MSc in Clinical Trials at the University of Oxford with a Dissertation on a non-inferiority trial of withdrawal of medical therapy in ischaemic heart disease.
Academically, I have authored >150 peer-reviewed publications (including first author publications in the New England Journal of Medicine, the Lancet, JACC, JAMA Cardiology, European Heart Journal and European Journal of Heart Failure), have won several prizes and presented my work nationally and internationally.
I am author of many publications on heart failure and cardiomyopathies, inequalities of care for patients with heart failure, and the role of heart failure specialised care during hospitalisation. I am first author of a NEJM review article on Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction and a Lancet Seminar on Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction.
I am a member of national and international societies, including the ESC council on Cardio-Oncology. I am the immediate past Chair of the HFA Young Committee overseeing international projects for >5000 young Heart Failure specialists and the Co-Chair of the ESC Young Cardiovascular professional Board Committee.
I am have supervised and mentored international fellows, medical students, and thesis discussants.
