Arnold Ganser

Prof. Dr. Arnold Ganser is Professor emeritus for Hematology and Oncology at Hannover Medical School after serving as Director of the Department of Hematology, Hemostasis, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation from 1995 to 2022. After graduating from Aachen University in 1979 he received his scientific and clinical training in internal medicine, hematology and oncology at the Universities of Ulm and Frankfurt am Main in Germany. His main research interest has always focused on acute leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, acquired cytopenias, and stem cell transplantation with more than 800 peer-reviewed publications. He has held multiple scientific functions, e.g. Member of the Board of Directors of the German Leukemia Network and of the European LeukemiaNet, Member and Chair of the International Members Committee of the American Society of Hematology (2004-2011), International Councillor of ASH (2019-2022), Chair of the Crisis Management Work Force of ASH (2022-2024), Co-Chair of the Consortium Acute Leukemia of ASH (2011-2024), Co-Chair of the Acute Myeloid Leukemia Study Group (AMLSG) (since 2004), Member of the Leadership of the AML EVOLVE Consortium (AMLSG, HOVON, UK AML Research Network) (since 2023), Deputy-Speaker and Speaker of the DFG-funded special research area 738 “Optimization of Conventional and Innovative Transplants” (2011-2019). He was Editor-in-Chief of "Annals of Hematology" (2004-2022) and is Associate Editor for AML/MDS for the “British Journal of Haematology” since 2023. Since 2023 Professor Ganser is Honorary Emeritus Member of ASH and Member of the Academia Europaea (MAE).
