Short Biography
I am a Gastroenterologist with over 20 years of experience in advanced endoscopy, academic teaching, and clinical research. After graduating in Medicine from the University of Perugia (2005), I completed my residency in Gastroenterology at Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome (2009) and earned a PhD in Endoscopic Treatment of Obesity at the Catholic University of Rome (2013).
Currently, I serve as Associate Professor of Gastroenterology at the Catholic University of Rome and as Consultant Gastroenterologist at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS.
My clinical and research focus includes:
Biliopancreatic endoscopy (ERCP) and cholangioscopy
Management of biliopancreatic complications and malignancies
Endoscopic treatment of chronic pancreatitis and postoperative complications
Bariatric endoscopy (ESG, bypass revisions, treatment of complications)
Regenerative endoscopy and innovative therapeutic approaches
I am passionate about education and innovation in endoscopy. Since 2009, I have been an Instructor and Faculty Member at the European Endoscopy Training Center (EETC) and IRCAD France, and I co-invented the Boškoski-Costamagna ERCP Training Model, widely used for hands-on training worldwide.
I also serve as Secretary and Advisory Board Member of the Centre for Endoscopic Research Therapeutics and Training (CERTT), and I was a Governing Board Member of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) for the 2022-2025 term.
Author of numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and abstracts, I regularly lecture at national and international conferences and participate in live endoscopy workshops.
