Short Biography
Dr. Hort is a Professor of neurology at Department of Neurology, Charles University, 2nd Medical Faculty and Motol University Hospital, Prague, Czech Republic and PI of the Czech Brain Ageing Study (CBAS), which is conducted in cooperation with the International Clinical Research Center in Brno, Czech Republic. CBAS is an unique longitudinal prospective study established in 2011 to explore the early functional, metabolic and structural biomarkers of Alzheimer ́s Disease (AD) and other dementias. (Refer to: www.cbas.cz) Dr. Hort was elected chairman of Section on cognitive neurology of the Czech Neurological Society (2005-2018, 2023-2027). Dr. Hort served also as a co-chair of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) Scientist Panel Dementia and Cognitive Neurology (2015-2019). Dr. Hort authorized European guidelines on AD and participated in EAN guidelines on non-Alzheimer dementias and combination therapy for AD. Dr. Hort has been honored to become Courtesy Professor at University of South Florida, School of Aging Studies in 2019. He is a member of Expert Advisory Panel of Alzheimer Europe and member of Scientific leadership Group of International Registry on Alzheimer Disease (InRAD). Dr. Hort is an expert in translational research and has introduced a novel method of a human variant of the Morris Water Maze (hMWM) into AD research. Dr. Hort has published several papers indicating that spatial navigation is impaired early in the course of the disease and represents distinguished cognitive domain. Recently dr. Hort has been involved in numerous initiatives to bring novel technologies of quantum computing, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, virtual reality and blockchain to both AD research and clinical practice. Dr. Hort is co-founder of telemedicine/blockchain projet Alzheimerchain and NFT Non-fungible brain project. He has launched very successfull mobile app Terrapino for prevention of AD and promotion of healthy aging - www.terrapino.com He is a medical advisor of AI company Neurona lab developing MRI, PET and voice AI solutions in aging and cognitive disorders. Dr. Hort has participated in numerous drug development projects as a consultant, SAB member and principal investigator as well. He published more than 300 scientific articles receiving more than 10k citations and H-index of 46 (2025). He has served as a reviewer for several peer reviewed journals and international grant agencies. In 2011 he founded Czech Alzheimer fund, which sponsored many research projects and scholarships for young scientists.
