Short Biography
Jason Hodges is a social and behavioral scientist with over fifteen years of experience leading epidemiologic, longitudinal, and mixed-methods research in rare and chronic diseases, social determinants of health, and healt equity. He serves as Director of Research & Clinical Studies in the Department of Hematology at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where he provides strategic leadership for a portfolio of 60+ observational and longitudinal protocols and mentors a multidisciplinary team of more than 40 research professionals. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Division of Social & Behavioral Sciences at the University of Memphis School of Public Health, teaching applied public health methods and mixed-methods research at the graduate level.
His scholarship spans patient-reported outcomes, qualitative inquiry, geospatial analysis, and large cohort studies, with recent work increasingly grounded in implementation science to translate evidence into clinical and community practice. He has authored peer-reviewed publications in journals including Blood Advances, Neuro-Oncology, British Journal of Hematology, and JMIR mHealth and uHealth, with sustained contributions to sickle cell disease research, childhood cancer survivorship, and community-engaged public health. Dr. Hodges holds a PhD in Social & Behavioral Sciences (Public Health) from the University of Memphis, an MA in Anthropology, and a Graduate Certificate in GIS & Health, and is completing an MS in Clinical Investigations at the St. Jude Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
