Short Biography

Full Professor at the University of São Paulo (USP), Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ), and Habilitated Professor (Livre-Docente) in Chemical Ecology and Insect Behaviour. He is affiliated with the Graduate Program in Entomology at USP/ESALQ (CAPES grade 7) and is a Research Productivity Fellow of the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq, Level 1A). He holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering and an MSc in Entomology from the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), a PhD in Entomology from USP/ESALQ, and completed postdoctoral training in Chemical Ecology at USP/ESALQ. He served as Head of the Department of Entomology and Acarology at USP/ESALQ (2021-2025), was a member of the National Institute of Science and Technology (INCT) on Semiochemicals in Agriculture (CNPq/FAPESP; 2009-2025), and served on CNPq’s Agronomy Advisory Committee (Plant Protection, 2020-2023). His research focuses on chemical ecology, particularly semiochemical-mediated communication and multitrophic interactions among plants, pest insects, beneficial insects, and microorganisms. His work encompasses insect pheromones, plant volatiles, insect behaviour, microorganism-mediated interactions, and plant defence signalling, with the broader goal of translating fundamental knowledge of chemical communication into innovative and sustainable strategies for agricultural pest management.
