Short Biography

Jalid Sehouli is Professor of Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and one of Europe’s leading experts in the treatment of gynecologic malignancies. He is President of the PanArabian Research Society of Gynecologic Oncology (PARSGO) and serves in multiple leadership roles within international oncology networks. From 2026, he will assume the presidency of the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO). He is the founder of the North-Eastern German Society for Gynecological Oncoogy (NOGGO) and the founder of the German Ovarian Cancer Foundation.

His clinical and scientific focus includes ovarian, endometrial and cervical cancer, rare gynecologic tumors, long-term survivorship, patient-centered care, and communication in medicine. He has authored and co-authored more than 1,000 scientific publications and has led numerous national and international clinical trials.

Beyond his medical career, Jalid Sehouli is an award-winning writer and essayist whose work explores themes of identity, migration, trauma, and healing at the intersection of medicine and literature. His book The Art of Breaking Bad News is regarded as a standard reference in medical communication.
