Short Biography

I am an established senior scholar studying children’s social-emotional development, with >11,000 citations and an h-index >50 and

an i-10 index >125 (Google Scholar, 6/7/2026). My research is focused on how genes and environments work together to influence

risk and resilience for the development of mental and physical health problems. Based on our research across the past 25 years, it is

clear that children’s self-regulation defined across physiological, behavioral, and social levels of analysis is a key mechanism linking

genetic, family, and social contextual risk and resilience to the development of mental and physical health problems.
