Dr. Kuppan Gokulakrishnan is an Additional Professor and DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance Intermediate Fellow at National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Madras, with prior appointments at the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation, India, Emory University, and the University of Michigan, USA. With over 17 years of interdisciplinary biomedical research experience Dr. Gokulakrishnan uniquely bridges clinical and basic science research, enabling strong translational impact. He specializes in biomarker discovery, disease biology, epigenetics, and gut microbiome research in neuropsychiatric and metabolic disorders. A recipient of multiple national and international grants including Wellcome Trust, MRC-UK, NIH-RO1, DBT, DST, SERB, ICMR, and an elected member of the prestigious National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) and the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI). He has authored 70+ publications and aims to advance precision diagnostics and translational neuroepigenomics through a Centre of Excellence in Clinical Epigenetics and Metagenomics at NIMHANS.
