Short Biography
I hold a Bachelor's and Licentiate degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Santa Catarina and a Ph.D. in Physiology from the Federal University of São Carlos. During my doctorate, I completed a sandwich internship at the University of Virginia Health System. I performed a postdoctoral fellowship at INSERM in Paris, France. In 2015, I received a Visiting Fellowship from the University of Nottingham, England. I am currently a Full Professor at UFSCar, where I coordinate LABEN (Laboratory of Biology of Aging) in the Department of Gerontology and lead the Biology of Aging research group registered in the CNPq directory. I hold a CNPq Productivity Level 2 scholarship and supervise students in the Graduate Program in Gerontology (PPGGero/UFSCar) and the Interinstitutional Graduate Program in Physiological Sciences (UFSCar/UNESP). I review for journals in Aging, Alzheimer's Disease, and Cancer, and serve as a scientific advisor for Brazilian agencies (CNPq and FAPESP) and international ones across Chile, the Czech Republic, the United States, Israel, and the Netherlands. I collaborate with institutions in Ireland, the UK, Italy, Spain, Canada, Australia, and the USA. I am a member of CIBFar/FAPESP and was selected as an Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health by GBHI at Trinity College Dublin. My research focuses on aging, Alzheimer's disease biomarkers, ADAMs, and cancer.
