Short Biography

 I am currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Microbiology and Biochemistry at the University of the Free State (UFS). My research focuses on using CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing and RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) to investigate gene function in Candida albicans.  I hold a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, India (with a Minor in Molecular Biology). My doctoral research focused on the genetic and proteomic profile of Candida albicans biofilms.  M.Sc. in Microbiology from the Government Institute of Science, Aurangabad, India.  B.Sc. in Microbiology, Taiz University, Yemen.  My aim to advance understanding of infectious diseases using interdisciplinary approaches and contribute to the development of novel microbial therapeutics and solutions to microbial-related health challenges.
