Short Biography

Dr. Mehwish David is an interdisciplinary researcher in reproductive toxicology and public health, holding a Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology from Quaid-i-Azam University, Pakistan. Her work investigates the impact of environmental and occupational pollutants—such as heavy metals and endocrine-disrupting chemicals—on reproductive health, employing integrated approaches that span molecular toxicology, biochemistry, and epidemiological biomonitoring. Recently, she gained experience of Assistant Professor at Government College Women University, Sialkot, now she is actively seeking a postdoctoral fellowship in Europe, U.S and Canada to contribute to translational research aimed at mitigating environmental reproductive risks. Research Interests Dr. David’s research is driven by a commitment to understanding and addressing environmental determinants of reproductive health disparities, particularly in vulnerable occupational groups. Her specific interests include: · Molecular Toxicology of Heavy Metals: Assessing DNA damage, oxidative stress, and endocrine disruption in exposed populations. · Environmental Health Biomonitoring: Using human and animal models to evaluate pollutant burden and physiological outcomes. · Natural Product Pharmacology: Investigating plant-derived compounds for contraceptive and therapeutic applications. · Translational Public Health: Bridging laboratory findings to policy and intervention strategies for at-risk communities. Education & Career Dr. David earned her Ph.D. in Zoology (Reproductive Physiology) from Quaid-i-Azam University in 2023. Her doctoral dissertation examined the molecular and cellular effects of environmental pollutants on brick kiln workers in Pakistan. She also holds an M.Phil and M.Sc. in Zoology from the same institution. Since 2024, she has served as an Assistant Professor and IPFP Fellow, where she taught, supervised graduate students, and lead research projects. Previously, she worked as a Research Associate on an HEC-funded project studying pre-eclampsia. Contributions & Recognition Dr. David has authored 19 peer-reviewed articles and 4 book chapters, with first-author publications in journals such as Scientific Reports, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, and Andrologia. Her research has been presented at international conferences, including as an invited speaker at the 4th International Workshop on Ion Beam Applications (2022). She has been recognized with awards including the John-Ivy Azariah Scholarship (2021) and merit fellowships throughout her academic career. Professional Activities Dr. David actively contributes to the scientific community as a peer reviewer for journals such as Pharmacological Research - Reports (Elsevier) and Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety (Elsevier). She is a member of The Endocrine Society, the Pakistan Neuroendocrine Society, and the Quaidian Zoological Society.
