Short Biography

I hold a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from the National Probiotic Lab at the National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE), Pakistan, with collaborative research training at the Emerging Pathogens Institute, University of Florida, USA. My academic and research background spans a multidisciplinary interface of biotechnology, microbiology, structural biology, molecular biology, microbial genomics, and bioinformatics. My research is primarily focused on the hospital microbiome, particularly its role in the emergence and persistence of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). I am committed to addressing the urgent need for effective infection control strategies in healthcare settings, especially within lower-middle-income countries such as Pakistan. By investigating local microbial reservoirs and resistance patterns, my work aims to develop sustainable, microbiome-informed solutions to combat AMR and HAIs. A key aspect of my research involves the identification of novel antimicrobial compounds from microbial communities and the formulation of potent, bio-based biocidal disinfectants to enhance hospital hygiene practices. These efforts are grounded in translational science with a strong emphasis on eco-friendly, scalable interventions suitable for resource-limited healthcare systems. I am currently exploring early-stage research opportunities in both academia and industry and remain open to interdisciplinary collaborations that align with my broader goal of advancing sustainable approaches to infectious disease prevention, microbial risk mitigation, and global health security.
