Short Biography
I am an Associate Professor at the School of Computational & Integrative Sciences at Jawaharlal Nehru University, India. With my expertise in microbiology, computational biology, data mining, multi-omics, cancer informatics, AyurGenomics, and deep learning and generative models in Drug discovery. I have 15+ years of experience in academia and research. My interdisciplinary group applies artificial intelligence (AI)-based models to design drugs, vaccine candidates, and disease biomarkers for the scientific community working in biomedical and healthcare research. We develop and implement efficient computational approaches and prediction methods to study the role of various computational biology tools and techniques in improving our understanding through unraveling pathogenic mechanisms and exploring potential factors involved in communicable and non-communicable diseases, viz., cancers. This larger field of research was extended to include understanding the mechanistic phenomena underlying pathogenesis, identifying diagnostic markers, and using different omics approaches to develop new vaccines and assess drug interactions, playing distinct roles at the molecular level within the biological system.
I have established numerous research collaborations at national and international levels over the years, as evidenced by my publications and research grants. I teach Fundamentals courses on Bioinformatics, Biology, and Cheminformatics to postgraduate students and have guided more than 150 graduate, master’s, and research scholars, as well as postdoctoral scholars, in my area of expertise. Locally, I advocate for science communication, appearing in school/college programs to promote science careers nationwide.
