Short Biography

Since the beginning of my pathology training, I have developed a strong interest in hematological malignancies, with a particular focus on integrating routine diagnostic lymphoma practice with translational research. In 2001, I completed a rotation with the BC Cancer Agency’s Lymphoma Tumor Group. After finishing my anatomic pathology residency in Lisbon in 2003, I returned to BC Cancer, where I pursued fellowships in both Molecular Lymphoma Pathology and Clinical Hematopathology. This work culminated in my PhD thesis, “Biological Predictors of Survival in Lymphoma and Mechanisms Underlying Follicular Lymphoma Transformation into Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma.” In 2013, I joined the pathology staff at BC Cancer, where I continue to collaborate with lymphoma research projects through the Centre for Lymphoid Cancer, as well as integrate the UBC Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
