Short Biography
After having done my PhD partly in the field in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, I was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa. I was recruited in 2008 as a tenured position senior scientist at Inserm within the Bordeaux Population Health Research Centre. I am now a Director of Research at Inserm (tenure position).
The early stages of my career were focusing on the prevention of mother-to-child of HIV through breastfeeding in African populations. I then participated in the creation of a research platform with the humanitarian organization ALIMA (The Alliance for International Medical Action) to develop high-quality innovative and transformative research programmes (individual or cluster randomized clinical trials, interventional cohort studies) in sub-Sahran Africa through a partnership between scientists and humanitarian workers, primarily aimed at improving maternal and child health outcomes in complex situations (post-conflict and/or very decentralised an/or tensed from a security perspective).
I authored and co-authored 100+ articles published in international journals all related to maternal and child health in Africa. I have been regularly appointed as an expert in various committees and guidelines development groups for United Nations agencies (WHO, UNICEF, UNAIDS).
I am currently the coordinator of the Master Global Health in the Global South at the Bordeaux School of Public Health (ISPED, Bordeaux University) and the co-director of the Global Health in the Global South (GHiGS) team at the Bordeaux Population Health Research Centre.
