His research focuses on psychopathology, addictive behaviors, and co-occurring psychiatric disorders, with particular emphasis on substance use disorders, gambling disorder, compulsive sexual behavior disorder (CSBD), and related mental health concerns. Using behavioral, epidemiological, clinical, and neurobiological approaches, Kraus investigates factors that contribute to the development, maintenance, and treatment of addictive behaviors among high-risk populations, including U.S. military veterans and young adults.
