Short Biography

Vanessa Fleury, MD, is a neurologist specialized in movement disorders and Head of the Movement Disorders Unit at Geneva University Hospitals, Switzerland. Her research focuses on the neuropsychiatric, emotional, and cognitive dimensions of Parkinson’s disease, with particular interests in shame, embarrassment, neuropsychiatric fluctuations, and patient-centered care. She developed the SPARK scale, the first disease-specific instrument assessing shame and embarrassment in Parkinson’s disease, and leads research programs combining neuropsychology, neuroimaging, electrophysiology, and neuromodulation. Her current work investigates electrophysiological biomarkers of neuropsychiatric fluctuations using high-density EEG and subthalamic local field potential recordings, with the long-term goal of developing personalized neuromodulation strategies. She also leads clinical and translational research in MR-guided focused ultrasound and therapeutic patient education for people living with Parkinson’s disease.
