Vikash Paudel

Dr. Vikash Paudel is a Consultant Dermatologist, Associate Professor, researcher, and Editor-in-Chief based in Kathmandu, Nepal. With extensive experience in clinical dermatology, medical education, and research, he is widely recognized for his multidimensional contributions to dermatology at both national and international levels.

He currently serves as an Associate Professor of Dermatology and Venereology and is actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, mentoring research, and promoting evidence-based clinical practice. Dr. Paudel is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Nepal Journal of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology (NJDVL), where he plays a key role in advancing scientific publishing standards and strengthening Nepal’s presence in global dermatological research.

Dr. Paudel’s clinical expertise spans a wide range of dermatological conditions, including infectious dermatoses, antifungal resistance, urticaria, aesthetic dermatology, and dermatosurgery. He is particularly known for his work in teledermatology, having contributed to innovative digital healthcare solutions in resource-limited settings, especially during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.

A prolific researcher, Dr. Paudel has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications in reputed international journals such as JAAD International, JEADV, and the British Journal of Dermatology. His research interests include infectious dermatology, antifungal stewardship, teledermatology, and public health dermatology.

His contributions have been recognized globally, including multiple “Rising Star” awards at the World Congress of Dermatology (2019, 2023), along with several international fellowships and scholarships across Europe and Asia. He is an active member of leading international dermatology societies and a regular speaker at global scientific forums.

Beyond academics and clinical practice, Dr. Paudel is deeply committed to community service and public health. He has led numerous dermatology outreach programs in rural and underserved areas of Nepal, conducted awareness campaigns on rational use of medications, and worked to address the growing issue of topical steroid misuse.

Through his work, Dr. Paudel continues to bridge clinical excellence, research innovation, and public health impact, with a vision to improve skin health awareness, strengthen dermatology education, and promote ethical, evidence-based care.
