Vykuntaraju K Gowda

I am currently working as Professor and HOD of Pediatric Neurology, Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health, Bangalore. Born in a small village in Kolar district, I completed early education in my hometown. I completed his under graduation and postgraduate studies in pediatrics from the esteemed Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute. Keeping my keen interest in child neurology, I pursued DM Pediatric Neurology from AIIMS, Delhi, one of the first candidates to obtain DM Pediatric Neurology in India.

With an interest to serve and build pediatric neurology care down south, I moved back to Bangalore. In the year 2011, I joined Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health as an Assistant Professor in Pediatric Neurology, and over the years, I have steadily improved the department single-handedly and am currently serving in the capacity of Professor and HOD of Pediatric Neurology, with 25 years in active service.

An astute clinician and ardent academician has more than 910+ publications in various journals. I have actively contributed to medical education with 55+ chapters in multiple textbooks; as a caveat, I have authored a textbook on cerebral palsy, which is a standard referral textbook for undergraduates and postgraduate students.

A revered teacher, I started a fellowship in Pediatric Neurology under the aegis of RGUHS; first in the state of Karnataka, in the year 2025, and I have tutored more than 42 students ever since.

Dept of Pediatric Neurology at IGICH, attracts thousands of patients every year with close to more than 3lakh patients registered and treated till now. Each day, his OPD is buzzing with patients from neighboring states of Andhra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and even from as far as West Bengal.

In addition, I established MY center and serves as a Consultant Pediatric Neurologist at the Bangalore Child Neurology and Rehabilitation Center. It is a multidisciplinary center for children with all neurological disabilities under one roof.
