Short Biography
Robert Baiocco, Ph.D., is a Full Professor of Developmental Psychology at the Sapienza University of Rome. He received a degree in Clinical and Community Psychology, a Ph.D. in Psychology from Sapienza University of Rome, and a master’s degree in “Family Psychotherapy” from the “Scuola Romana di Terapia Familiare”. He has research interests in three main areas: 1) minority stress, coming out process, and psychological well-being of LGBTQIA+ people; 2) risk and protective factors experienced by sexual minority adolescents; 3) same-sex parent families and the well-being of children raised by LGBT+ parents. Since 2010, has been the Director of the “Be as you are” clinical research center at Sapienza University of Rome, which promotes research on sexual orientation, gender identity, and LGBTQIA+ well-being. His early career has included participation in nationally and European-funded projects, such as Erasmus+ and PNRR initiatives, as well as sustained involvement in international research collaborations. Since 2023, he has served on the Executive Board of the Italian Society for Gender, Identity and Health (SIGIS), a non-profit association dedicated to supporting the physical, mental, and social health of LGBTQIA+ people. His academic profile combines research, clinical expertise, and coordination experience, with a distinctive contribution to the development of integrative models that link minority stress, psychological processes, and health outcomes within contemporary biopsychosocial frameworks.
